Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acamprosate calcium + D-cycloserine is a preclinical-stage, oral small molecule combination therapy being developed by Confluence Pharmaceuticals. The drug combines acamprosate calcium (calcium N-acetylhomotaurinate), which acts as a GABA-A receptor facilitator and NMDA receptor modulator, with D-cycloserine, a GABA-A agonist and NMDA receptor partial agonist. Formulated as a sustained-release oral product, the combination is designed to restore the balance between excitatory (glutamatergic) and inhibitory (GABAergic) neurotransmission. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric conditions, including Fragile X Syndrome (FXS), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and the maintenance of abstinence in Alcohol Abuse.
