Overview
acapatamab + etanercept is an experimental combination therapy currently in phase 1 clinical trials for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. The combination includes acapatamab, a half-life extended bispecific T-cell engager antibody that targets both prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) on prostate cancer cells and CD3 on T-cells, designed to recruit and activate T-cells against prostate cancer. Etanercept is a recombinant fusion protein functioning as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor, used here as prophylaxis to mitigate cytokine release syndrome associated with T-cell engager therapies. Etanercept is FDA-approved for multiple autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, but its use here is as a short-term adjunct to improve the safety profile of acapatamab in oncology.
