Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MYKAST-A is an oral fixed-dose combination therapy containing acebrophylline and montelukast, marketed by Jabs Biotech for the management of respiratory disorders. Acebrophylline is a xanthine derivative that functions as a bronchodilator, mucoregulatory agent, and anti-inflammatory by inhibiting phosphodiesterase (PDE) and reducing mucus viscosity. Montelukast is a selective cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLT1) antagonist that prevents leukotriene-mediated airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and inflammation. Together, these agents work synergistically to improve airflow and reduce symptoms in patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and allergic rhinitis.
