Overview
Chafe-XT is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Charan Laboratories. It contains three active ingredients: aceclofenac, paracetamol (acetaminophen), and thiocolchicoside. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Paracetamol acts as an additional analgesic and antipyretic agent. Thiocolchicoside is a semi-synthetic derivative of colchicoside that functions as a muscle relaxant with competitive GABA-A receptor antagonist and glycine receptor agonist properties. The combination is primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of painful muscle spasms associated with acute musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
