Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nanofen MR is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by Achilles Healthcare, consisting of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) aceclofenac and the muscle relaxant thiocolchicoside. Aceclofenac is a phenylacetic acid derivative that exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby reducing the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins. Thiocolchicoside is a semi-synthetic sulfur derivative of colchicoside that functions as a muscle relaxant; its mechanism involves competitive antagonism at GABA-A receptors and glycine receptors in the central nervous system. This combination is primarily indicated for the management of acute painful musculoskeletal conditions associated with skeletal muscle spasms, such as low back pain, neck pain, and post-traumatic or post-operative pain.
