Overview

Standard Postoperative Analgesics (E-DA Hospital) is a multimodal analgesic regimen utilized for the management of postoperative pain, specifically evaluated in patients undergoing Ferguson haemorrhoidectomy. The regimen consists of a combination of three pharmaceutical agents: acetaminophen (paracetamol), an oral non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic; celecoxib, an oral selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor; and parecoxib (marketed as Dynastat), an intravenous prodrug of valdecoxib that also selectively inhibits COX-2. This combination is designed to provide synergistic pain relief by targeting prostaglandin synthesis through multiple pathways and administration routes, aiming to optimize pain control while minimizing the requirement for rescue analgesia or opioids in the immediate postoperative period.
