This is a combination drug consisting of acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol), L-cysteine, and L-methionine. Acetaminophen is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic agent. Both L-cysteine and L-methionine are amino acids involved in the synthesis of glutathione, a critical antioxidant that protects cells from oxidative damage. The rationale for combining these agents is to reduce the risk of liver toxicity associated with acetaminophen use or overdose by supporting glutathione synthesis through direct substrate provision (cysteine) and precursor support (methionine). Methionine has been co-formulated with paracetamol in some products as an antidote strategy for overdose, while cysteine supplementation may further enhance hepatic protection by directly contributing to glutathione biosynthesis[1][3][5]. This combination aims to mitigate hepatotoxicity by ensuring adequate substrates for rapid glutathione replenishment during periods of increased demand.
