Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nixacold is an over-the-counter oral syrup formulation containing a combination of acetaminophen, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, and phenylephrine hydrochloride. Developed and manufactured by Nik Saman Darou, it is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold, influenza, and upper respiratory allergies, including fever, minor aches and pains, nasal congestion, and runny nose. Within this combination, acetaminophen acts as an analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, diphenhydramine hydrochloride serves as a first-generation antihistamine with sedative and anticholinergic properties, and phenylephrine hydrochloride functions as a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist to relieve nasal congestion.
