acetylsalicylic acid + codeine

Acetylsalicylic acid + codeine is an approved small molecule combination drug marketed by Vidipha Central Pharmaceutical in Vietnam for the treatment of pain and fever. The formulation combines acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), with codeine, an opioid analgesic. Aspirin acts as a peripherally acting analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory agent by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins. Codeine provides additional pain relief through a central mechanism, binding to mu-opioid receptors in the central nervous system to alter the perception of and response to pain. This dual-mechanism approach is suitable for managing mild-to-moderate pain and associated fever.
