Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a combination analgesic product consisting of acetylsalicylic acid (500 mg), sodium bicarbonate (1625 mg), and anhydrous citric acid (965 mg). Developed by Azidus Brasil and Geolab, it is formulated as an effervescent oral powder intended for the acute treatment of episodic tension-type headaches. Acetylsalicylic acid, the active pharmaceutical ingredient, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides analgesia by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby blocking the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. The inclusion of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid creates an effervescent delivery system when dissolved in water, which acts as a buffering system to potentially accelerate gastric emptying and enhance the rate of absorption of the acetylsalicylic acid compared to standard tablet formulations.
