Aclidinium bromide + formoterol is a fixed-dose combination inhalation medication used for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It combines two long-acting bronchodilators from different classes: aclidinium bromide, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA/anticholinergic), and formoterol fumarate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). Aclidinium works by inhibiting M3 muscarinic receptors in airway smooth muscle to produce bronchodilation. Formoterol stimulates beta2-adrenergic receptors in the lungs to relax bronchial smooth muscle. The combination provides complementary mechanisms to improve airflow and reduce COPD exacerbations. It is administered as an inhaled dry powder via breath-actuated devices such as Pressair or Genuair[1][3][5].
