aclidinium bromide + formoterol fumarate

Duaklir Genuair is a fixed-dose combination therapy containing aclidinium bromide, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), and formoterol fumarate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). It is delivered via the Genuair dry powder inhaler and is indicated for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Aclidinium works by blocking M3 muscarinic receptors in the airway smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation, while formoterol acts as a selective beta2-adrenoceptor agonist to relax bronchial smooth muscle. The combination provides dual bronchodilation with different mechanisms of action. It was originally discovered by Almirall and is marketed by AstraZeneca. CIRO+ (expertisecentrum voor chronisch orgaanfalen) has also been involved in Phase 4 clinical research evaluating its effects on lung hyperinflation and physical activity in COPD patients.
