Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Actinium (225Ac) satoreotide tetraxetan (also known as [225Ac]Ac-DOTA-JR11 or 225Ac-SSO110) is a targeted alpha therapy (TAT) radiopharmaceutical consisting of the somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) antagonist peptide satoreotide tetraxetan (DOTA-JR11) radiolabeled with the alpha-emitting radionuclide actinium-225 (225Ac). It is being developed by Ariceum Therapeutics, which acquired the rights to satoreotide from Ipsen. The drug targets SSTR2, which is overexpressed in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), small cell lung cancer (SCLC), and Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC). Unlike SSTR2 agonists, the antagonist satoreotide binds to a higher number of receptor sites and exhibits longer tumor retention, delivering a highly localized and potent dose of alpha radiation to destroy cancer cells while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. It is currently in Phase I/II clinical development for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) and Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC).
