Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amvocid is an oral antacid and antiflatulent suspension developed by Amvia Biotech. It is a combination product containing activated dimethicone (50 mg), magnesium hydroxide (250 mg), and dried aluminium hydroxide (250 mg) per 5 ml dose. The aluminium and magnesium hydroxides function as antacids by neutralizing gastric hydrochloric acid, which helps relieve symptoms of heartburn and hyperacidity. Activated dimethicone (also known as simethicone) acts as an antiflatulent by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines, facilitating their coalescence and expulsion, thereby alleviating bloating and gas-related discomfort. It is typically indicated for the symptomatic relief of hyperacidity associated with gastritis, peptic ulcers, and flatulence.
