actrapid + insulatard

Actrapid + Insulatard is a combination therapy using two formulations of recombinant human insulin for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Actrapid (soluble/regular human insulin) provides rapid onset and short duration of action, while Insulatard (isophane or NPH human insulin) offers intermediate to long duration. This combination allows for both immediate and sustained blood glucose control by mimicking physiological basal-bolus patterns. Both are produced via recombinant DNA technology in yeast cells. The mechanism involves binding to the insulin receptor on muscle and fat cells to facilitate glucose uptake and inhibit hepatic glucose output[1][2][4][5][7]. Primary indication is diabetes mellitus (type 1 and type 2).
