Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of the antiviral drug acyclovir and the immunosuppressive agent cyclosporin A. Acyclovir is a guanosine analog that inhibits viral DNA polymerase and DNA replication in herpesviruses, while cyclosporin A is an immunosuppressant that inhibits cyclophilin. This combination has been studied for use in herpetic stromal keratitis and may be used in transplant patients. However, co-administration requires careful monitoring due to increased risk of nephrotoxicity.
