Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EBL2007 refers to a clinical trial (NCT04186000) evaluating the heterologous two-dose Ebola vaccine regimen consisting of Ad26.ZEBOV (Zabdeno) and MVA-BN-Filo (Mvabea). Developed by Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) and Bavarian Nordic, this prophylactic vaccine regimen is designed to prevent Ebola virus disease caused by the Zaire ebolavirus species. The regimen involves a prime dose of Ad26.ZEBOV, a recombinant, replication-incompetent adenovirus type 26 vector expressing the Zaire ebolavirus Mayinga glycoprotein, followed approximately 56 days later by a booster dose of MVA-BN-Filo, a recombinant, non-replicating modified vaccinia Ankara vector expressing glycoproteins from Zaire ebolavirus, Sudan ebolavirus, and Marburg virus, as well as the nucleoprotein from Taï Forest ebolavirus. The regimen received marketing authorization in the European Union in July 2020 and WHO prequalification in May 2021, though the EU marketing authorization was withdrawn in May 2026 for commercial reasons.
