Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NeuClone Pharmaceuticals is developing an adalimumab biosimilar that references the originator biologic Humira. Adalimumab is a recombinant human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and neutralizes its biological activity by blocking its interaction with the p55 and p75 cell surface TNF receptors. This biosimilar candidate is being developed in partnership with the Serum Institute of India for the treatment of various autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, plaque psoriasis, Crohn's disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and ulcerative colitis. As of recent pipeline updates, the program is in late preclinical development, utilizing NeuClone's proprietary NeuMAX platform for high-quality biosimilar production.
