Overview

This combination therapy consists of adebrelimab, a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1); apatinib (also known as rivoceranib), a small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor selectively targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2); and paclitaxel, a microtubule-stabilizing chemotherapeutic agent. The regimen is primarily being investigated as a second-line treatment for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Adebrelimab functions as an immune checkpoint inhibitor, restoring T-cell mediated anti-tumor activity by blocking the interaction between PD-L1 and its receptors. Apatinib inhibits tumor angiogenesis and may also modulate the tumor microenvironment to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy. Paclitaxel provides direct cytotoxic effects by disrupting microtubule dynamics during cell division. This triplet combination aims to provide a synergistic therapeutic effect to overcome resistance in patients who have progressed after initial platinum-based chemotherapy.
