Overview

The combination of adebrelimab and etoposide is primarily used in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC), particularly in extensive-stage SCLC. This combination therapy has shown significant clinical benefits in improving overall survival compared to chemotherapy alone. Adebrelimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets PD-L1, functioning as an immune checkpoint inhibitor. Etoposide is a chemotherapy agent that damages DNA in cancer cells. When combined, often with platinum-based agents (carboplatin or cisplatin), this regimen forms a first-line treatment for extensive-stage SCLC. Clinical trials, such as CAPSTONE-1, demonstrated superior overall survival for adebrelimab plus chemotherapy compared to placebo plus chemotherapy. The combination is approved in China for first-line treatment of extensive-stage SCLC and is being investigated in various other SCLC settings.
