Adenosine‑5′‑[beta,gamma‑methylene]tetraphosphate is a synthetic nucleotide analog consisting of an adenosine moiety linked to a tetraphosphate chain in which the bridging oxygen between the beta and gamma phosphates is replaced by a methylene group. This modification confers resistance to enzymatic hydrolysis by phosphatases and ATPases. The compound is primarily used as a biochemical tool in research settings to study nucleotide-binding proteins and enzymes that interact with ATP or related nucleotides. It can act as an inhibitor or substrate analog for various kinases and ATP-dependent enzymes due to its structural similarity to natural nucleotides but altered reactivity.
