Adenosine 5'-(α, β-methylene) diphosphate is a **synthetic small-molecule analog of adenosine diphosphate (ADP)** and functions as a potent and selective *inhibitor of ecto-5'-nucleotidase (CD73)*. It blocks the CD73-mediated conversion of AMP to adenosine, thereby reducing extracellular adenosine production. This inhibition can reverse doxorubicin resistance in multidrug-resistant (MDR) CD73-positive cells, inhibit efflux of rhodamine, act as a vasoconstrictor, modulate inflammatory responses, and has been shown to affect memory loss in animal models of neurodegeneration. Its principal research use is in studying purinergic signaling, cancer therapy preclinical evaluations, and neurobiology[1][3][5][7].
