Overview

Adenosine triphosphate + fluoxetine is an investigational combination therapy being studied for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). In this regimen, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is administered intravenously as a fast-acting antidepressant, while fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), is given orally. ATP acts as an energy supplement for cells and has shown potential rapid antidepressant effects in preclinical models. Fluoxetine increases synaptic serotonin levels by inhibiting its reuptake in the brain and is widely used to treat depression and related disorders. The combination aims to provide both rapid symptom relief (via ATP) and sustained antidepressant effects (via fluoxetine)[1][3].
