Overview

Adenovirus-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (ADV-CTLs) is an investigational adoptive cell therapy developed by New York Medical College for the treatment of refractory adenovirus infections in immunocompromised patients. The therapy consists of T-lymphocytes derived from HLA-matched or mismatched related donors that are specifically sensitized against adenovirus antigens. The manufacturing process utilizes the Miltenyi CliniMACS Prodigy Cytokine Capture System, where donor cells are stimulated with the MACS GMP PepTivator AdV5 Hexon to isolate and expand virus-specific T cells. By intravenously administering these targeted CTLs, the therapy aims to restore cellular immunity against adenovirus, specifically targeting and eliminating virus-infected cells. It is primarily being evaluated in pediatric and young adult populations following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AlloHSCT), solid organ transplantation, or in those with primary immunodeficiencies.
