Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) are a population of multipotent progenitor cells isolated from adipose tissue, typically via lipoaspiration. They are a subset of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) that exhibit the ability to differentiate into mesodermal lineages, including adipocytes, osteoblasts, and chondrocytes. ADMSCs are widely utilized in regenerative medicine due to their potent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and pro-angiogenic properties, which are largely mediated through the secretion of paracrine factors such as cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors (the secretome). In clinical applications, they are being investigated for treating conditions ranging from autoimmune disorders and chronic wounds to neurodegenerative diseases like Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), where they may provide neuroprotective support to motor neurons by delivering trophic factors and modulating the inflammatory microenvironment.
