Overview

Adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs) are an investigational cell therapy being developed and evaluated by The Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University for the treatment of chronic kidney disease and chronic renal failure. These multipotent stromal cells are isolated from adipose tissue and are characterized by their ability to home to sites of tissue injury and exert potent immunomodulatory and regenerative effects. In the context of renal failure, AMSCs are thought to function primarily through paracrine signaling, secreting a variety of growth factors and cytokines that reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis. By antagonizing pro-fibrotic pathways such as TGF-beta signaling and modulating the local immune environment, the therapy aims to stabilize renal function and promote the repair of damaged tubular structures.
