Overview
The adjuvanted typhoid + paratyphoid A conjugate vaccine (GSK3888550A) is a bivalent investigational vaccine developed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) to prevent enteric fever caused by *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhi and *Salmonella enterica* serovar Paratyphi A. The vaccine consists of the Vi capsular polysaccharide of *S.* Typhi and the O-specific polysaccharide (O:2) of *S.* Paratyphi A, each conjugated to a carrier protein (typically CRM197) to induce a T-cell dependent immune response. This conjugation enhances immunogenicity and memory, particularly in infants and young children, compared to unconjugated polysaccharide vaccines. The formulation includes an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant (alum) to further boost the immune response. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
