Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: - **Adriamycin** (doxorubicin): An anthracycline antibiotic used as a cytotoxic chemotherapy agent. It works primarily by intercalating DNA, inhibiting topoisomerase II, and generating free radicals, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Flurbiprofen**: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionate class. It inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis and inflammation. - **Vincristine**: A vinca alkaloid antineoplastic agent that binds to tubulin, inhibiting microtubule formation during mitosis, resulting in cell cycle arrest at metaphase. This combination has been studied for use in advanced breast cancer. Clinical trials have shown that adding flurbiprofen to adriamycin plus a vinca alkaloid (vincristine or vindesine) did not improve response rates or reduce toxicity compared to chemotherapy alone[1]. The primary indication for this regimen is investigational treatment of advanced breast cancer.
