Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two cytotoxic agents: - **Adriamycin** (doxorubicin), an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to inhibition of DNA replication and RNA synthesis, as well as generation of free radicals causing cell death. - **Vincristine**, a vinca alkaloid that binds to tubulin and inhibits microtubule formation, arresting cells in metaphase during mitosis. The combination has been studied for the treatment of various cancers including metastatic breast cancer. Both drugs act synergistically by targeting different mechanisms essential for cancer cell proliferation. The regimen is typically administered in cycles and may be used alone or as part of larger multi-drug regimens. Side effects are generally manageable but can include myelosuppression (from doxorubicin) and neurotoxicity (from vincristine)[2].
