Overview

The adsorbed diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis (3-component) combined vaccine is a biological combination product developed by Beijing Tiantan Biological Products Co., Ltd. It is intended for the active immunization of infants and children aged 2 months to 6 years against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). The formulation utilizes an acellular pertussis component consisting of three purified antigens (typically pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin) rather than whole-cell bacteria, reducing reactogenicity. These antigens, along with diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, are adsorbed onto an aluminum-based adjuvant to enhance the immune response. A Phase 1 clinical trial (CTR20190714) has been conducted in China to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity compared to existing DTaP and pentavalent vaccines.
