Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Advanced Eye Relief is a brand of over-the-counter lubricant eye drops, typically manufactured by Bausch + Lomb, designed to provide temporary relief from eye dryness and irritation. In the context of Galderma R&D's clinical program for erythematous rosacea, it was utilized as a placebo or control intervention in a Phase II bioavailability study (NCT00807963). The study aimed to compare the systemic absorption of COL-118 (a topical brimonidine gel) against brimonidine ophthalmic solution. Advanced Eye Relief served as the dummy eye drop for patients receiving the active topical gel, ensuring the study remained blinded. It does not contain active pharmacological ingredients for the treatment of rosacea and functions primarily as a humectant to hydrate the ocular surface.
