Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Afimoxifene + plus appears to be a misidentification of **AFIME-200 PLUS**, a pharmaceutical product distributed by **Pharma Drugs & Chemicals**. AFIME-200 PLUS is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic containing **cefixime** (a third-generation cephalosporin) and **ofloxacin** (a fluoroquinolone). Cefixime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), while ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA replication by targeting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This combination is widely used in India for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including typhoid fever, urinary tract infections, and respiratory tract infections. It should be noted that 'afimoxifene' is a distinct chemical entity (4-hydroxytamoxifen, a selective estrogen receptor modulator) and is not an ingredient in this antibiotic product.
