Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy used for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) complicated by submacular hemorrhage. Aflibercept is a VEGF inhibitor that prevents neovascularization, while alteplase (recombinant tissue plasminogen activator or rtPA) dissolves blood clots by activating plasmin. When coapplied, alteplase helps clear the submacular hemorrhage while aflibercept addresses the underlying neovascular AMD.
