Overview
aflibercept + FOLFIRI-Yonsei University-colorectal cancer refers to a combination therapy regimen consisting of aflibercept (Zaltrap) and FOLFIRI chemotherapy (folinic acid, 5-fluorouracil, and irinotecan) being evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial by Yonsei University. Aflibercept is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a decoy receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), VEGF-B, and placental growth factor (PlGF), thereby inhibiting angiogenesis. FOLFIRI is a standard cytotoxic chemotherapy regimen. This specific study (NCT03730103) assesses the efficacy and plasma biomarkers of the combination as a second-line treatment for patients with advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer who have progressed on prior oxaliplatin-based therapy (FOLFOX).
