Overview
A combination therapy consisting of aflibercept (a vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor) and sirolimus (also known as rapamycin). This combination has been investigated for treating persistent, exudative age-related macular degeneration in patients who continue to experience fluid accumulation despite previous anti-VEGF treatments. The therapy involves alternating monthly intravitreal injections of sirolimus and aflibercept.
