Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Agave sisalana fiber + flaxseed + corchorus capsularis fiber + tobacco leaf is a combination allergenic extract used for the diagnosis and treatment of specific allergies. [24] It contains allergenic proteins and other molecules derived from sisal fiber, flaxseed, jute (Corchorus capsularis) fiber, and tobacco leaf. As a diagnostic tool, it is applied via skin tests to identify sensitization by observing the resulting wheal-and-flare reaction. [24, 25] For therapeutic purposes, known as allergen immunotherapy or hyposensitization, it is administered in gradually increasing doses, typically through subcutaneous injections. [24, 27] This process aims to modulate the patient's immune system, shifting it from a Th2-mediated allergic reaction towards a state of tolerance, thereby reducing or eliminating allergic symptoms upon natural exposure to these allergens. [27] The use of such extracts is an established treatment for allergic diseases like allergic rhinitis when avoidance is not possible. [27]
