AGN-232411 (Allergan)

AGN-232411 is a small molecule agonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 (TRPM8) channel, developed by Allergan (now part of AbbVie) for the treatment of dry eye syndrome. TRPM8 is a cold-sensitive ion channel expressed on the sensory nerve endings of the ocular surface, including the cornea and conjunctiva. Activation of TRPM8 by AGN-232411 is intended to mimic the cooling effect of evaporation on the ocular surface, which naturally triggers basal tear production and provides symptomatic relief from the discomfort and dryness associated with dry eye disease. The drug is formulated as a topical ophthalmic solution for direct application to the eye.
