Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ainuovirine + lamivudine + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) antiretroviral therapy used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Marketed under the brand name Ainuoteng, it is the first triple-combination single-tablet regimen (STR) developed by a Chinese pharmaceutical company to receive regulatory approval. The regimen consists of ainuovirine (ACC007), a novel non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), alongside two nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Ainuovirine was specifically designed by Jiangsu Aidea Pharmaceutical to provide potent antiviral efficacy with a superior safety profile compared to first-generation NNRTIs like efavirenz, particularly regarding central nervous system side effects and lipid metabolism. The combination effectively suppresses viral replication by targeting the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase enzyme through both allosteric inhibition and competitive chain termination. It was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China in 2021 for treatment-naive HIV-1 infected adults.
