Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clinimix is a parenteral nutrition solution containing a combination of 15 essential and non-essential amino acids (alanine, valine, proline, phenylalanine, lysine, arginine, leucine, isoleucine, tyrosine, methionine, threonine, serine, glycine, histidine, and tryptophan) along with dextrose. Developed by Baxter, it is designed for intravenous administration to provide nutritional support to patients who cannot receive adequate nutrition through oral or enteral routes. The amino acids serve as a source of nitrogen for protein synthesis and the maintenance of nitrogen balance, while dextrose provides carbohydrate calories for energy. The product is typically supplied in a dual-chamber bag to separate the amino acids from the dextrose until administration, ensuring stability and allowing for customized nutritional support.
