Bentex-L is a fixed-dose combination anthelmintic medication developed by Ben Pharmaceuticals, primarily used for the treatment of intestinal parasitic infections. It combines albendazole, a benzimidazole derivative, with levamisole, an imidazothiazole. Albendazole works by binding to the colchicine-sensitive site of parasite beta-tubulin, inhibiting its polymerization into microtubules and thereby disrupting essential metabolic functions like glucose uptake, leading to the parasite's death. Levamisole serves as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist, inducing persistent depolarization and spastic paralysis in susceptible nematodes, which facilitates their expulsion from the host's gastrointestinal tract. This dual-action approach provides broad-spectrum efficacy against various helminths, including *Ascaris lumbricoides* (roundworm) and hookworms.
