Overview

Aldesleukin + filgrastim is an experimental combination therapy consisting of two biologic agents used primarily in oncology and immunotherapy research. Aldesleukin is a recombinant form of interleukin-2 (IL-2) that stimulates the proliferation and activation of lymphocytes, including cytotoxic T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, thereby enhancing immune-mediated antitumor responses. It is FDA-approved for metastatic renal cell carcinoma and metastatic melanoma. Filgrastim is a recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) that promotes the production, maturation, and activation of neutrophils from the bone marrow, reducing neutropenia associated with chemotherapy or immunotherapy regimens. The combination aims to leverage aldesleukin’s immune-stimulatory effects while using filgrastim to mitigate treatment-induced neutropenia or support hematopoietic recovery during intensive cancer therapies[1][4][8].
