Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a multi-agent chemotherapy and immunotherapy combination consisting of six drugs: - **Aldesleukin** is a recombinant analog of interleukin-2, an immune modulator that stimulates the proliferation and activation of lymphocytes, particularly T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, to induce an adaptive immune response[2]. - **Fluorouracil** (5-FU) is a pyrimidine antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cancer cells[1]. - **Gemcitabine** is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis by incorporation into DNA strands during replication. - **Levofolinate** (also known as levoleucovorin or folinic acid) enhances the binding of 5-FU to thymidylate synthase, increasing its cytotoxicity; it does not have direct anticancer activity but potentiates 5-FU's effect[5]. - **Oxaliplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms crosslinks in DNA, inhibiting replication and transcription. - **Sargramostim** is a recombinant granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), which stimulates bone marrow to produce white blood cells and supports recovery from myelosuppressive chemotherapy[7][8]. This combination would be considered highly experimental or investigational. Each component has established use in oncology—most commonly for solid tumors such as colorectal cancer—but this specific six-drug regimen does not correspond to any standard named protocol. The rationale would be maximal cytotoxicity against tumor cells with simultaneous immunomodulation and hematopoietic support.
