aldesleukin + pembrolizumab is a combination therapy being investigated by Emory University for the treatment of previously untreated, PD-L1 positive, stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This regimen combines low-dose aldesleukin, a recombinant form of the cytokine interleukin-2 (IL-2) that promotes T-cell proliferation and activation, with pembrolizumab, a monoclonal antibody that inhibits the PD-1/PD-L1 checkpoint pathway. The combination aims to synergistically enhance the anti-tumor immune response by reinvigorating exhausted T cells and promoting an effector-like phenotype, potentially improving clinical outcomes in patients with high PD-L1 expression.
