Overview

The goal is to prevent acute and chronic rejection while minimizing toxicity and side effects associated with long-term immunosuppression[1][2][3]. Alemtuzumab depletes T cells, reducing early immune response; sirolimus inhibits T-cell activation via mTOR blockade; tacrolimus suppresses T-cell activation by inhibiting calcineurin. This combination has been studied for its potential to allow step-wise withdrawal of immunosuppressants or reduced long-term drug burden[3].
