Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of alfacalcidol (a vitamin D analog) and etidronate (a bisphosphonate). Alfacalcidol helps regulate calcium metabolism and promotes bone formation, while etidronate inhibits bone resorption by osteoclasts. This combination works synergistically to improve bone health through different mechanisms. The typical regimen involves intermittent cyclical etidronate (200 mg daily for 2 weeks every 3 months) combined with continuous alfacalcidol (1 μg daily).
