Overview

**Aliskiren + amlodipine + hydrochlorothiazide** is an oral fixed-dose triple antihypertensive combination developed by Novartis and formerly marketed as Amturnide in the United States and Rasitrio in Europe. It combines aliskiren, a direct renin inhibitor that suppresses renin activity and downstream angiotensin II formation; amlodipine, a dihydropyridine L-type calcium-channel blocker that reduces vascular smooth-muscle tone; and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic that inhibits sodium-chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule. It was indicated for hypertension, including essential hypertension in adults already controlled on the three components, but both the US product and EU authorization have been discontinued or withdrawn.
