Overview

This drug is a glutaraldehyde-modified allergen extract, known as an allergoid, derived from the pollen of *Phleum pratense* (Timothy grass). Developed by ROXALL Medizin GmbH, it is used in allergen immunotherapy (AIT) for patients with allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and well-controlled grass pollen-induced asthma. The glutaraldehyde modification process cross-links the allergen proteins, which significantly reduces their IgE-binding capacity (allergenicity) while preserving their ability to stimulate T-cells (immunogenicity). This allows for the administration of higher allergen doses with a reduced risk of systemic allergic reactions. The therapy works by inducing immunological tolerance, shifting the immune response from a Th2-dominated allergic profile toward a Th1/Treg-mediated response and stimulating the production of allergen-specific IgG4 blocking antibodies.
