Overview

This combination therapy regimen is being developed and evaluated by Beijing 302 Hospital (the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital) for the first-line treatment of BCLC stage B or C hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The protocol integrates three distinct therapeutic modalities: adoptively transferred allogeneic γδ T cells, which are ex-vivo expanded from healthy donors to provide innate-like anti-tumor activity; targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) such as lenvatinib or sorafenib, which inhibit multiple receptors including VEGFR1-3, FGFR1, PDGFR, c-Kit, and Ret to disrupt tumor angiogenesis and proliferation; and a PD-1 monoclonal antibody, which acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor to restore the activity of cytotoxic T lymphocytes. This synergistic approach is currently being investigated in a Phase I clinical trial to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with advanced liver cancer.
