Overview

This investigational cell-based therapy consists of allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Allo-ASC) suspended in a fibrin glue carrier. Developed by researchers at Seoul National University Hospital, it is specifically designed for the treatment of lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). The therapy is administered via intratendinous injection into common extensor tendon defects under ultrasound guidance. The stem cells are intended to promote tissue regeneration and repair of the damaged tendon through paracrine signaling and differentiation, while the fibrin glue acts as a biological scaffold to localize and maintain the cells at the site of injury. Clinical studies, including a Phase II randomized controlled trial, have evaluated its safety and efficacy in improving elbow pain, performance scores, and structural tendon defects.
