Investigational adoptive cellular immunotherapy consisting of allogeneic cytomegalovirus (CMV)-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) developed by the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (Penn State). The therapy targets CMV antigens, specifically the pp65 and IE1 proteins, which are expressed in a high percentage of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) tumors. The therapeutic product is composed of donor-derived CMV-specific CD8+ and CD4+ T cells that are expanded in vitro through stimulation with CMV peptide mixes and conditioning with cytokines IL-2, IL-15, and IL-21. Upon infusion, these CTLs are designed to recognize and eliminate CMV-antigen-positive GBM cells.
